چکیده

Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein immunoglobulin G (anti-MOG-IgG) has been recently found to be associated with some forms of idiopathic inflammatory demyelinating CNS disorders. In a preliminary study from India, recurrent optic neuritis and isolated longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis were identified as the common phenotypes. The clinical and radiologic features of this newly discovered subset of autoimmune disorders are only beginning to be understood. In this context, we would like to draw attention to an unusual and hitherto unreported association noticed in a patient with anti-MOG-IgG–associated myelitis.

Influenza-associated MOG antibody-positive longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis: a case report

BACKGROUND Myelin-oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody (MOG antibodies) was found in various demyelinated diseases. This is the first report of a patient with longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis with an extremely high titer of MOG antibodies after an influenza infection. This case supports the view that MOG antibodies are linked to longitudinally extensive transverse myelitis and that...

Relapsing optic neuritis and isolated transverse myelitis are the predominant clinical phenotypes for patients with antibodies to myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein in India

BACKGROUND Clinical phenotypes of patients with antibodies to myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (anti-MOG+) are unknown in India. OBJECTIVES Retrospectively to characterise anti-MOG+ patients with inflammatory central nervous system disorders in India. METHOD A total of 87 patients with non-multiple sclerosis demyelinating disorders (excluding acute disseminated encephalomyelitis) who wer...

Antibodies to myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein in bilateral and recurrent optic neuritis

OBJECTIVE We examined a cohort of adults with aquaporin-4 (AQP4) antibody-negative neuromyelitis optica/neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMO/NMOSD) for antibodies to myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG). METHODS We performed a flow cytometry cell-based assay using live human lentivirus-transduced cells expressing full-length surface MOG. Serum was tested in 23 AQP4 antibody-negati...

Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibodies are associated with a non-MS course in children

OBJECTIVE To determine whether myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibodies (MOG-Abs) were predictive of a demyelination phenotype in children presenting with acquired demyelinating syndrome (ADS). METHOD Sixty-five children with a first episode of ADS (12 acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, 24 optic neuritis, 18 transverse myelitis, 11 other clinically isolated syndrome) were identified ...
